Outreach
Our Redeemer’s offers a variety of ways to reach out and serve others inside and outside of our church community.
Meals on Wheels
The Kenneth Young Center provides meals to be delivered to seniors. Be part of the group that delivers the meals in the Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates area once a week on a rotating basis.
Rogers Park Food Kitchen
Join others to prepare and serve food in a long established food kitchen to those who could use a meal and a smile. Groups carpool to Rogers Park once a month.
Elgin Community Crisis Center
This center provides support and housing for women in crisis. We assist with donations of needed supplies and toiletries.
Gifts From the Heart - Kids Above All
During Advent, we have the opportunity to make a child’s Christmas a little brighter. Choose to receive one (or two or three) names, and buy something from their wish list. Sponsored by Kids Above All, a local organization.
Kids Above All Easter Collection
Each year leading up to Easter, we collect diapers, wipes, and other baby needs to be donated to Kids Above All, a local organization dedicated to improving children’s lives.
Christmas Cards
A group of congregants sends out Christmas cards to neighbors each year.
Faith in Action
This group focuses on matters of social justice. They participate in different events to bring awareness to various issues of importance.
Feed My Starving Children
This organization is committed to providing nourishing, easy to make food for people living in countries where hunger is ongoing. Join the group in combining and packing the nutritious ingredients to make tasty soup. Our group goes to the Schaumburg location monthly.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Do you enjoy knitting or crocheting? Join this group that gets together (and works independently) to prayerfully create shawls used to bless others who are in the midst of hard circumstances.
Schaumburg Township Food Pantry
Feed our hungry neighbors by bringing non-perishable food items to the church narthex each Sunday. Volunteers deliver the food weekly to the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry.
Minister’s Discretionary Fund
Donate to this designated fund to allow the pastor to provide financial help to those who are going through a hard time.
Appalachian Service Project
An annual tradition for Our Redeemer's. Each summer a team of youth (with adult leaders) travels to repair houses and connect with those who live in them. A wonderful opportunity for Christian service and fellowship.
Heifer Project
In December, we can participate in Heifer as a giving opportunity to purchase an animal to give to a family in need in developing countries. Each Heifer gift is multiplied as recipients agree to “Pass on the Gift” of one of the animal’s offspring to another person in need in their community.
Midwest Distribution Center/UMCOR
UMCOR exists to provide help to those affected by disasters. The Center collects and organizes necessary supplies to get needed items to affected areas as quickly as possible.
Neighborhood Outreach
Letters to our neighbors invite them to our services if they do not currently have a church home. Join this group in distributing the letters by hand.
